In a strongly worded evaluation, the security review board declared that the UK is "significantly behind" the required position to adequately defend itself and its coalition members, particularly during a time when military risks to the continent are "considerable".

The inquiry determined that the nation is falling short of its Nato obligations and falling "well under" of its stated prominent status.

The document was made public as the military department identified possible locations for six new munitions factories, constituting a broader strategy to boost national weapons output.

The committee leader added that the group had "repeatedly heard apprehensions about the nation's capacity to defend itself from military action".

The detailed suggestions included a request for the administration to expedite the rate of industrial change and make "preparedness" a essential goal.
