Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed aged 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.

"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his parents and siblings.
