Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former physician now faces charges for performing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
