The winter transfer market proves to be a period of feverish speculation and possible big-money deals. Several notable stars find themselves linked with transfers out of their current teams. This article explores some of the top names that could be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, this has left the player available, it appears a major move is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a substantial release clause applicable for a two-week period in early January. Latest developments suggest Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Former interested parties like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have turned their attention to other options, potentially opening the door for clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late move.

Marc Guéhi

The England defender has continued to excel for Palace despite a summer move to Anfield falling through. With his deal due to expire in the summer, January is the London club's last opportunity to obtain a fee for their skipper. Numerous elite clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a winter departure remains unlikely, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales winger has found first-team minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the club's top scorer last season, he has begun only a handful of Premier League games. Reports suggest the London outfit would be willing to consider a sale for the right valuation, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an inquiry.

Tottenham rate Brennan Johnson at approximately £40m.

R. Neves

The Portuguese midfielder might be poised for a return to the Premier League following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still only twenty-eight, and with his agreement expiring in the summer, he represents a potential bargain. Clubs such as Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the player. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

This veteran German goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barcelona under new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone an operation, a January departure looks highly likely. Villa were once linked as a possible destination, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing curiosity in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The prolific English centre-forward has continued scoring regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League could enhance his dwindling hopes of being in the national squad. But, arranging a transfer presents significant challenges. His current club are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages make any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United have all been mentioned as admirers.

C. Gallagher

The dynamic English midfielder attracted considerable interest in the off-season but stayed at Atlético. Having few starts in La Liga this term, he may be keen to find more minutes ahead of the tournament. H. Elliott

Despite excelling and winning the best player award at the Under-21 European Championship in the summer, the talented midfielder has struggled for game time during his loan spell at Villa. The manager has confirmed the loan move won't be made permanent. Because of FIFA regulations regarding playing for multiple teams in a campaign, a move back to his parent club prior to next summer appears to be the sole viable solution.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey attacker is in excellent form for Juventus this term. As his existing contract nearing its end, a host of Premier League clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are desperate to secure the youngster to a new long-term agreement but face a battle to keep one of the continent's most promising prospects.

K. Smit

The much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ first team. This 19-year-old is heavily tipped to complete a major move in January. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing stiff rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
