Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
