Recent Information Surface Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a therapist arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had accompanied her contacted 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.
Additionally disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes accounts of alleged "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
