Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the global break, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be managing their weekend soccer team," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in August, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest coach.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four games.

A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have got lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's home record, the sole team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have still been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
