Two Victims Identified in the Providence Campus Incident as Authorities Persist in Manhunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the weekend's violent attack on the university campus were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their shooter carried on following the release by local law enforcement of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also posted sympathies publicly, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the prestigious university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a raid at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you need to change course and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Ongoing Concerns

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our city”.
